what is up with tim burton?

The new twisted take on Alice In Wonderland by Tim Burton opens this weekend and frankly I can’t wait. I love Burton and I love the dark edge he brings to everything he does. Heck, even kids movies and musicals by Burton can give adults nightmares. Seeing that DUSK is playing some of Burton's movies makes me very happy. So, now that we know I’m a Burton fan – what is up with him and Johnny Depp?
Alice in Wonderland, Sweeney Todd, The Corpse Bride, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow… are you getting it? Really I’m getting sick of seeing Johnny Depp in these kick-ass twisted roles. Why can’t we get a new actor in these? We all know Tim Burton has an affinity toward certain actors, and I don’t mind him putting some of the lesser successful actors into his movies time and time again, but come on, give some other shmuck a break. Take a risk Tim. Everyone knows Johnny Depp can do twisted, but really now, thanks to you it seems twisted is all he can do. Even if you see Johnny in a role that isn’t twisted, you’re watching the film waiting for him to get twisted.
Anyway, Tim, if by chance you do read this. Please grow a pair and cast a new face. Maybe you’ll get lucky and discover the next Johnny Depp.
