In November of 1974 at 3:15am at 112 Ocean Avenue Amityville, New York, Ronald DeFeo, Jr shot and killed his entire family. When asked why he did it, DeFeo stated that the voices in his head told him to.
Years later, George Lutz (Ryan Reynolds) and his wife Kathy (Melissa George) moved their family to what they believed to be their dream home. Although they were warned about the brutal murder that occurred in this home, George and Kathy decided to buy it anyways.
Almost immediately after they move in, the Lutz family began to experience unexplainable supernatural happenings. Things started moving around on their own, there was a constant unexplained coldness and even their children claimed to see ghosts. It was clear that the Lutz family was being haunted by the previous homeowners that were murdered.
As time progressed, the haunting got worse until George himself became possessed by the spirit of Ronald DeFeo, Jr. It’s up to Kathy to get her kids away from the demonic house before history repeats itself.
Based on a true story and the novel by Jay Anson, you can watch The Amityville Horror this Saturday January 22nd at 9pm ET.
