A shy and mousy girl realizes she has telekinetic powers after being verbally and physically abused by her peers and devout Christian mother.

When Carrie (Sissy Spacek) is asked to prom by the most popular boy in school, she is hesitant to accept but is also extremely excited to be noticed. Carrie has a great time until a few jealous girls pull the ultimate humiliating prank on Carrie, a prank that makes her snap. Carrie uses her telekinetic powers to destroy everyone who ever hurt her before.
